Since 1925, Laco has been crafting precision timepieces that honor the legacy of WWII-era Flieger watches. We carry Laco because their commitment to heritage and quality makes them a perfect fit for those who appreciate historically inspired, well-built timepieces.
The Augsburg Blaue Stunde 42 takes the sunburst blue dial that defines this model and puts it in a case that lets it fully command the wrist. "Blaue Stunde", or the blue hour in German, is that brief twilight window when the sky deepens before going dark. The name feels even more appropriate at 42mm, where the dial has the room to show everything it's capable of. Type A layout, brushed stainless case, Laco 2S automatic, grey NATO strap. The same honest Augsburg formula, wearing its most distinctive color in its most confident size. All watches come with a 2 year warranty through Laco.

Our Take
The sunburst blue dial was already the most visually interesting thing in the Augsburg lineup at 39mm. At 42mm it becomes the most visually interesting thing on your wrist. The larger case gives the dial more surface to shift and catch light across, and the depth of the sunburst finish which moves from rich navy at the center to a brighter, more luminous tone toward the edges, is more apparent here than in the smaller version. The grey NATO keeps the whole package feeling casual and contemporary rather than precious, which is exactly right for a watch with this much character.
Who This Watch Is For
- Buyers who want the Blaue Stunde at its most impactful. The sunburst dial rewards the extra real estate that 42mm provides
- Anyone who wears larger watches and has been looking for a flieger that offers something genuinely different from the standard black dial options at this size
- Collectors who want to pair this with the standard Augsburg 42 which is same case, same movement, completely different atmosphere
- People comparing this to the Blaue Stunde 39: if the dial is what drew you to this watch in the first place, go 42 as it's the version where the dial truly gets to show off
