Islander is the watch brand of Long Island Watch, one of the most respected independent watch retailers in the enthusiast community. They design watches specifically for people who know what they want. They're well-spec'd, honestly priced, and built without compromise. We carry Islander because they represent exactly the kind of value that watch enthusiasts actually get excited about.
The JFK is Islander's automatic GMT, named after the international airport on Long Island, is a watch built around the reality of crossing time zones. The ISL-338 is the Batman variant: a black and blue cloud-embossed dial with silver indices, BGW9 SuperLuminova on the markers and hands for a blue glow in the dark, and C3 lume on the GMT hand for a contrasting green accent, which is the inverse of the lume scheme on the other JFK models. The framed date sits at 6 o'clock. A 24-hour chapter ring tracks the second time zone. The bezel is where this variant steps up materially. Where other JFK models use a ceramic insert, the ISL-338 uses a lumed sapphire insert. It's bidirectional, clicking into place with satisfying detents, and harder than ceramic by a meaningful margin on the Vickers scale. Rotate it to align with the GMT hand and you can track a third time zone. The domed sapphire crystal above the dial has an inner anti-reflective coating.

Our Take
The Batman is the most technically refined version of the JFK lineup. The black and blue color story is a classic in the GMT world for good reason. It's distinctive without being loud, immediately legible, and works across almost any context. The sapphire bezel insert is a genuine upgrade over ceramic: harder, more scratch-resistant, and it carries lume for low-light readability on all three time zones simultaneously. The inverted lume scheme, which is BGW9 blue on the dial, C3 green on the GMT hand, makes the GMT hand immediately identifiable in the dark without having to think about it. If you want the most capable JFK from a pure specification standpoint, this is the one.
Who This Watch Is For
- The GMT purist. Three-zone tracking with the chapter ring, lumed sapphire bezel, independently setting local hour hand via the NH34, is real GMT functionality executed properly. This watch was designed around how GMT watches actually get used.
- The buyer who knows what Batman means. Black and blue GMT bezels have a specific legacy in the watch world. The ISL-338 delivers that color story on a cloud-embossed dial with lume that performs in the dark, at a fraction of what the reference costs.
- The detail-oriented collector. The inverted lume scheme, which is BGW9 on the dial, C3 on the GMT hand, is a deliberate choice that makes the complication more readable at a glance. It's the kind of decision that separates a thoughtfully designed watch from one that just looks good in photos.
- The buyer who wants the most durable JFK. Sapphire bezel insert over a sapphire crystal case with a screwdown crown and 200m water resistance. The ISL-338 is the hardest-wearing version of this watch, full stop.
